Originally, I was planning on making a slouchy hat, but the 41 peg loom was making a pretty wide hat brim, which made me uneasy. I switched to the smaller 36 peg loom, but the main part of the hat was too snug to be a slouchy hat, when all was said and done. I added a large pom pom to incorporate more orange since not very much appeared while knitting.
Next time, I'll try using the 38 peg rectangular loom to make a slouchy hat.
Original pattern base:

Yarn: bulky [5], 2 strands at a time
Including the initial row, e-knit 14 rows. Fold up for the brim (attach by starting end loops all the way around). Knit the row without using new yarn. Continue e-knitting rows, until you finish the 39th row (keep counting from 14). Transfer every other loop to the peg beside it (1 to 2, 3 to 4, 5 to 6, etc.). Knit the row without using new yarn. Sew the loops together with a yarn needle, cinch together and tie off. Add a pom pom, making sure to tie it securely just inside the top of the hat. Remember to tie off starting ends.
This hat would suit a boy, but... Come on, it's earth tones - it belongs with me. :)
