Oh, yes. I decided to learn how to knit. I made this hat with yarn I found in a box in our spare room (we just moved, so exciting things are hidden everywhere), and an unmarked set of circular knitting needles I found for $1 at Value Village. There may or may not be a giant hole in one place, and the heavy weight of the pom pom may or may not be unsuitable for this particular loosely-knit hat. But it's awesome.
And now I can knit! This blanket was started at least six months ago, shortly before my husband and I got engaged. Today, I was able to give it to my mother-in-law, after some strategic sneaking around with the project when she's been over. It really didn't take a tonne of work, but I didn't have a tonne of spare time for crocheting or loom-knitting whilst planning our wedding and moving into our new house. But now? Now I can start crocheting again! Yahoo!
Agck! It's been so long since I've posted anything. Sorry about that! I have been crocheting and loom-knitting lately, but I've also been teaching, so I've been having to put yarn projects on the back-burner, so to speak.
Here's my latest WIP - a cappuccino colour-way shawl (Red Heart Unforgettable yarn). The virus shawl looked pretty, but I didn't love the stitch design. I like this stitch design a lot better. More info to come in a full post, once the shawl is complete. Well, I can finally show photos of the hats I made as Christmas gifts for family members. Two John Deere themed hats, and two slouchy purple hats, as requested. Everyone looks adorable in his or her hat. :)

Oh, goodness, I don't feel like typing much, so I won't. I started this cowl in November 2013, apparently. The yarn was discontinued before I'd even, but I had figured I had enough in my stash to try making this. I could have used one more skein. Pattern: here
Note: I made a few minor changes. Ch 10 more for strings, and sl st instead of sc back down each string. Still sc rest of finishing row. Someone close to me has requested matching mother-daughter slouchy hats. Here's the beginning of a test hat made from a very similar pattern to the one requested. The pattern is written very well, but I still had to redo sections until I got the hang of it.
Today's WIP Wednesday project is this gorgeous mustard yellow cowl. I started it, I think, just a couple of months ago. It's getting cold outside on the prairies already, so I'd like to have this finished soon so I can start wearing it. I only have 1 more skein of this particular colour (Bernat Waverley brand, which I seem to remember reading recently has been discontinued). I might try to use that 1 skein in a coordinating hat and mitten combo later on, but we'll see.
