What are 3 personality traits you are proud of? Share them in a comment. :) A guilty pleasure? Erm... I guess maybe binge-watching pre-recorded ABC Spark young adult sitcoms? I usually prefer Young & Hungry + Melissa & Joey. I don't usually care if they happen to be re-runs. The characters are like my morning friends I hang out with when I'm perusing Pinterest + Facebook for knitting inspiration, or doing some actual knitting while drinking my homemade caramel machiatto.
What's your guilty pleasure? Post it in the comments! Um. Oh. Right. I was dressed up as a kitty + was drinking out of a bowl at the end of our carpeted hallway. I was wearing a kitty button-under-the-chin hat with ears, kitty mitten-paws, possibly a white fake fur cape, + a long furry tail squished into my butt-crack + flowing out of the waistband of whatever pants I happened to be wearing. I was maybe...2? I think I was also meowing.
Post your earliest memory in a comment! Prairie Things was the name I chose a couple of years back. A coworker at one of my part-time jobs while I was in university gave me a group goodbye present. One of the things they gave me was a sweatshirt that said, "A little dirt never hurt a prairie girl" on it. While the sweatshirt was a size too small, I still wore it + loved it dearly. Prairielady + Prairiethings eventually became my online usernames for various sites. While I grew up on the west coast of Canada, I moved to the prairies right after high school. Hence, all things "prairie"!
That said, I am planning to possibly change things up this summer. I've just started working through a simplified business model workbook for creative artists, + am in the process of brainstorming new name ideas. What about you? What's the meaning of your business name? Post a comment to share your story!

Post a comment + describe yourself in 10 words/phrases! This is only the second time I've crocheted anything in 7-8 months. I had switched over to learning how to knit (which is going awesomely, by the way!), and, on a whim last Sunday, decided to start crocheting - a triangular shawl, of all things!
Pattern: "Seems Like Old Times" by Michele DuNaier on Ravelry There are just a few more rows to go before it's finished. I have no idea if this shawl is something I'll keep, sell, or gift away. I'm not really a triangular shawl-type of person. Who all is a shawl-type person? When + where do you wear your shawls? Is there a proper way to wear one? *is clueless* I've seen a few crafters lately creating tutorials about how to photograph your crocheted items. I figured I might as well help you out with shooting tips, as well, since I am a professionally-trained photographer. We won't get into the knitty-gritties in this tutorial. If you are interested past the basics, research degrees, Kelvin, white balance, colour temperature, custom white balance, etc.
Take a moment to look at each of the photos above. They all have different white balances. If you hover over the photos, the names of the white balance settings will appear. We need to get you shooting your items with consistent colouring so that your photographs beautifully + properly display your creations. Read on to gain a basic understand of how to control white balances in your camera. |
